I noticed it first in the early part of this year, around February or March. I was at around 620GB of free space (on a 1TB SSD) when the hard drive space started decreasing more rapidly and without any apparent reason. Up until sometime late last year or early this year, my hard drive space operated normally - it decreased gradually as I added more files and apps.
